Transmission

Change transmission lubricant and clean magnetic drain plug every 500 miles. You'll thank yourself, and your bike will thank you, too.

Changing transmission lube 2 or 3 times a week seems a bit much to me.

Why would you change transmission fluid every 500 miles? Did you mean to say 5000 miles?

Are you kidding me. The service manual says to change after first 1000 miles and then at the 10,000 mile mark.

500 miles? Are you kidding? Engine oil is recommended every 2500 to 5000. Engine oil takes a far worse beating than tranny oil. Tranny oil is good for 5,000 to 10,000. 500 miles is just a day ride. What if I went for 2 days?

Using synthetic oils extend the transmission oil changes to 10k miles after the first 500 mile break-in period.
